Step 1: Contain the water
Move furniture and electronics out of the drip zone. Catch active drips in a 5-gallon bucket — empty often.
Step 2: Relieve ceiling pressure
If a ceiling is bulging, poke a small hole in the center with a screwdriver and drain into a bucket. A controlled drain prevents a full ceiling collapse.
Step 3: Document everything
Photos and short videos before, during, and after. You'll need them for any future insurance claim.
